Authority, Purpose and Scope

Hello, all… I’m d.  Welcome to my blog.

And now that the basic pleasantries are out of the way, let me tell you a little more about myself.  For starters, I’m the compliance officer for a community bank.  But wait!  Before you pull out the pitchforks and torches – or worse, hit the ‘Back’ button – let me just say that I work for the good sort of bank.  Main Street, not Wall Street.  The sort of bank that you actually go to, not the sort that you hear about on the evening news.

So what all can you expect to find around here?  Honestly, I’m still figuring that out for myself.  All sorts of things, most likely.  Certainly I expect to have some things to say about the banking industry – and specifically, regulatory compliance in the banking industry.  They are, after all, important parts of my life.  But this isn’t, per se, a banking blog.  Or – despite the title – a compliance blog.  There are already banking blogs, and there are already compliance blogs.  This, on the other hand, is my blog.  So ultimately, as egotistical as it may be, this will end up being about me: my thoughts, my opinions, my experiences… the things that interest me.  Hopefully some of you out there will find that stuff interesting as well.

And if not, well, there’s still always that ‘Back’ button.
